INDIAN OCEAN SAFARI 2006

Once again EMERALD BLUE is preparing for a long ocean voyage, across the Indian Ocean to Africa and back, combining ocean passages in the trade winds and island hopping amongst some of the most exotic and unspoilt islands in the world.

EMERALD BLUE is a classic Sparkman and Stevens Ketch, strongly built for comfortable cruising, but with a good turn of speed which often sees her at the head of the racing fleet.

With Nick Band owner / skipper in charge she has logged about 80,000 miles in the last 14 years,
Including her delivery from America, 2 Africa voyages, and many trips to Indonesia, Burma, and in Thailand, and the Andaman islands.

Now after a complete refit, she is ready for another adventure.

THE INDIAN OCEAN SAFARI 2006 is a cruise with a schedule, starting and finishing in Phuket, Thailand, and covering about 8000 miles.

It is divided into 9 legs with 9 major ports of call and short stops in between on some legs.
Berths are available for the ocean legs , and the boat is available for charter by the week during the stopovers in the Maldives, Seychelles, Madagascar, and Zanzibar, all of which are fabulous island cruising grounds.

SAILING WITH EMERALD BLUE ON THE OCEAN LEGS

Experience

Participation in the running of the boat is an important part of this cruise on the ocean passages. All crew join in the handling of the boat and watch keeping.
Lack of experience is not a problem as long as there is enthusiasm.
Nick the skipper has made 8 previous Indian Ocean crossings, and novices will soon learn.

Safety

EMERALD BLUE is equipped with all required safety gear for going offshore, from safety harnesses to life rafts, and flares, to emergency Epirb beacon transmitting via satellite, and a sat phone.

Costs

All on board costs are included, except for alcoholic drinks, which are available on board for a reasonable price, and phone calls by sat phone.
Any other expenses such as, immigration fees, national park fees , should they arise, air tickets, meals, drinks and taxis on shore, will be the responsibility of each crew member.

Insurance

Insurance is essential.
Everyone should take out personal, accident, and medical insurance. Also personal effects should be insured against theft, loss, or damage.
Finally cancellation and curtailment insurance in case unforeseen circumstances should prevent or cut short the trip.

PRICE FOR 8 DAYS  EUROS 700 PER PERSON.

CHARTERS

During stop overs in Maldives, Seychelles, Madagascar and Zanzibar, Emerald Blue will be available for charter.

Included in the price: Captain and cook, all meals on board* excluding soft drinks and alcohol.

Euros 5,500 per week

* Dinner in the Maldives and Seycheles will be an extra charge

Berths will be available on the ocean passages for those who would like to join in all aspects of sailing a yacht on a deep sea voyage.
